    • Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (“HIPA”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), respects and values privacy and is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy sets out:

      • what rights you have in relation to Personal Information we hold about you.

    • Please note that the Website and interaction with our social media pages is not intended for children and HIPA does not knowingly collect information from children under 18 years of age.

    • “Partners” refers to parties with whom we collaborate for the purposes of running photography competitions, events, workshops or lectures.

It does not include anonymous data.

    We collect your Personal Information directly from you when you visit our Website or social media pages (wherever you visit from), including any Personal Information you provide when:

    • we interact with you regarding your participation in competitions, events, workshops or lectures we run solely or in collaboration with our Partners;
    • interact with us in person or online;
    • attend an event, workshop or lecture organized by us or in collaboration with our Partners;
    • apply for a position with us as an employee or contractor;
    • when you sign up for our newsletters.
  3. Collecting Personal Information from third parties

    We may collect your Personal Information from third parties such as our Partners when collaborating on photography competitions, or workshops, events or lecturers relating to photography, where the Partner collects the information or is acting as “controller” for the purposes of data protection laws.

    We use your Personal Information in connection with the provision of competitions, events, workshops and lectures (as are permitted within our functions and activities), including as follows:

    • where it is necessary to perform a contract, we are entering into with you or have entered into with you;
    • where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of a third party) and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests;
    • where you have given us express consent;
    • where we need to comply with a legal obligation;
    • to improve the quality our operations and for internal administration purposes including administering and protection this Website;
    • to manage our relationship with you;

    Change of purpose
    We will use your Personal Information for the purposes for which it was originally collected by us, unless we reasonably determine that another reason is compatible with the original purpose.     We may share your Personal Information with Partners for the purposes of running the competitions, events, workshops and lectures. We may also share your Personal Information with our bank or other administrative entities or government entities for the purposes of facilitating the awarding of prizes for the competitions we run.

    Where we share your Personal Information outside of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), we shall ensure that a similar or a higher degree of protection is provided to safeguarding your Personal Information. We only transfer Personal Information where:

    • our Partners have entered specific data sharing arrangements or similar contracts which contain minimum standards of protection as required by applicable law;
    • you have given us consent to disclose your Personal Information to a party outside of the UAE; or
    • as otherwise required by law or permitted by law including where the personal is transferred to a country that is deemed to have an adequate level of protection.
  7. How do we protect your personal information?

    HIPA has established appropriate processes and takes reasonable steps to ensure that your Personal Information is kept confidential and secure and is not lost or accessed or altered in an unauthorized manner. This includes:

    • access restrictions: only persons who need to access the Personal Information for the purpose of performing the tasks required in performance of HIPA’s obligations has such access and appropriate confidentiality agreements have been entered into with such persons;
    • technical and security measures: including confidentiality, safety, health and flexibility of systems and services;
    • robust physical security measures of premises and databases. This includes measures for retrieval and timely access of Personal Information and extends to appropriate measures for suspected or actual data breaches. In such cases, HIPA will comply with applicable law and notify the regulator or you as and when legally required.
  8. How long is personal information kept?

    HIPA will only keep your Personal Information for the duration reasonably necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected and/or as required by law or to for the purposes of satisfying its legal obligations. In the event of any real or threatened prospect of dispute or litigation, we may retain the information for a longer period.
