The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) has announced 10 total winners of the ‘Instagram Photo Competition’ which was launched under the Hashtag #HIPAcontest. The competition drew over 7000 submissions with the 10 winners each receiving a brand new DSLR camera with 3 lenses.
The Secretary General of HIPA, Ali Bin Thalith said “the number of participants and in particular the number of Arab winners in this photo contest really pleased us. There were a total of 4 winners from Kuwait which clearly reflects the impact of photography in Kuwaiti society”.
Bin Thalith added that “HIPA recognizes the impact of social media in promoting photography and the work of up and coming photographers from all around the world. This was one of the main reasons we decided to promote the ‘Instagram Photo Competition’ which in turn reached a wide number of photographers. We are currently considering launching more similarly styled competitions in the near future”.
To go with the 4 Kuwaiti winners, other winners came from Egypt, the United states of America, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hungary and Turkmenistan.
