Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award

Introduction

Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA), Streets of the World and their partners (Dubai Culture, KHDA, Dubai Chamber, Meraas, Philips, Canon and Globally Connected Companies) organizing the world’s largest outdoor photo exhibition on the banks of the Dubai Creek in Dubai from 20th January 2019 to 5th April 2019 . Accompanying this exhibition is a photo competition in the spirit of the Streets of the World project by Jeroen Swolfs (www.streetsoftheworld.com) who photographed street life in a positive way around the world.

The theme of the Streets of the World Photo Competition is ‘Connecting Humanity’ which is the theme of Streets of the World project but also what has made Dubai into the flourishing city it is today. In this competition it is all about the human factor in this achievement.

Categories

There are two categories for photographers to join:

The ‘Soul of Dubai’ category
The ‘Spirit of Trade’ category

For both categories 2 prizes can be won, first and second place. All prize winning photos will be displayed as part of the Streets of the World exhibition in Dubai on location at Al Seef. All prize winners will receive a brand new products from Canon as well.

In the entries for the ‘Soul of Dubai’ category we want to see the real soul of Dubai, Dubai is not only high skyscrapers and sand. We want to see the people of Dubai; we want to see ‘Connecting Humanity’.

Entries for the ‘Spirit of Trade’ category can only be photos about business between people in the Dubai Creek area where the city once started.

The Streets of the World Photo Competition entry date is 5th of December 2018. Closing of the entry period will be on the 19th of December 2018.

The exhibition of Streets of the World in Dubai will be opened on the 20th of January 2019 the prize winners will collect their prize in a special ceremony and the prize winning photos will be revealed at Al Seef.

Rules

The competition is open for all amateur and professional photographers from all over the world.
Entries for the contest are accepted only through www.hipa.ae
Submissions will be accepted from 12:00 PM on 5th December 2018 until 24:00 on 19th December 2018 UAE local time, (i.e. GMT +4). No Submissions made after the closing time will not be accepted.
Participants must be individuals aged 18 years and over at the time of their Submission.
You can only submit one (1) photo under each category.
Submitted photo must be has an original file in JPEG format, with high quality and resolution, of a minimum 5 MB in size, the minimum of the longest edge should be no less than 2000 pixel and the quality no less than 300dpi to be suitable for publication.
The submitted photo must not contain any tag(s), signature(s), initial(s), frame, border(s), logo(s) or any other references and/or marks added by the participant.
Basic technical editing of the photo is acceptable, provided that any such editing does not affect the authenticity and/or genuineness of the photo.
Panoramic or multiple photos are not allowed in this competition.
HIPA and/or “Streets Of the World” preserve the right to assess and discard from the competition any submitted photo deemed, contrary to the foregoing.
Photos that portray or otherwise include inappropriate and/or offensive contents, including nudity, violence and/or any other contents deemed to be contrary to the UAE religious, cultural and/or public morals traditions and practices will be disqualified.
HIPA and Street of the World have the right to use the winning and shortlisted photo (s) without paying any royalties to the photographer (s).
Dubai Chamber has the right to use the winning and shortlisted photo (s) for a year without paying any royalties to the photographer (s).
The employees of HIPA and “Streets of the World” and all their partners in this event are not entitled to participate in this competition.

Prizes

The exhibition of Streets of the World in Dubai will be opened on 20 January. During the grand opening the prizewinners will collect their prize in a special ceremony and the prizewinning photos will be revealed at Al Seef, Dubai Creek. For both categories 2 prizes can be won, first and second place.

The 4 prize winning photos will be displayed for 75 days as part of the Streets of the World exhibition in Dubai, on 180cm x 270cm billboards as used by Streets of the World on location at Al Seef. First prizes in both categories will also win a EOS m50 camera from Canon and second prizes a Canon TS5040 – photo printer
