Introduction

Dubai World Hospitality Championship - Photography Competition
Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Crown Prince of Dubai 

Following the impressive success achieved by Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2013; Za'abeel Palace Hospitality is honored to organize the second season of the Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2014, and cordially invites the talented photographers residing in the UAE to participate in the 'DWHC Photography Competition' which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from October 30, 2014 until November 1, 2014.

Rules and Regulations

  1. Participation is accepted from both nationals and residents of the country.
  2. Submissions for the Dubai World Hospitality Championship photography competition project open on Thursday 30 October 2014 and end on Friday 31 October 2014, and will be announced about the winner photos in November 01, 2014.
  3. Competition must be compatible with the subject and focused on the competition (First subject: Our Hospitality, Second subject: Our Heritage).
  4. Photos should be taken in Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2014.
  5. By participating in this project, the participant acknowledges and accepts all the rules and regulations.
  6. Participants are permitted to submit a maximum of two photographs per category available.
  7. Submissions will be accepted exclusively through the website www.dwhc.ae or by visiting our page in www.hipa.ae
  8. Photographs submitted must be of high quality and be suitable for print/publishing. They must also be in JPEG format and be no less than 2 MB in size.
  9. Participants must follow basic ethical and legal standpoints in their submissions and not violate or offend issues such as human rights or environmental protection.
  10. All submissions must be untagged and free of any form of signature, initial or logo that the photographer may have added.
  11. It is DWHC’s legal right to use all photographs for promotional purposes (Non- commercial). Any promotional work would be done through print, publishing and other forms of written or visual media.
  12. DWHC’s project panel holds the authority to turn down or reject any submission without having to give notice or explanation to the submitter of the photograph.
  13. Any submission not adhering to the above rules and guidelines will be deemed ineligible for the book project.

FAQ

Who can participate in the competition?

We encourage all individuals from all over the world to participate.

I am a previous winner with HIPA, am I eligible to participate in this competition?

Yes, you are.

What are the fees involved in the competition?

There are no fees whatsoever and the competition is completely free of cost.

What are the categories of the award?

This contest include two categories – Our Hospitality and our Heritage

How many pictures can submit?

You can submit two photographs per category available.

How do I submit photos for the competition?

You can submit photos through the official DWHC website www.dwhc.ae or through the official HIPA website www.hipa.ae

How can I register for the competition?

Registration is available through the official DWHC website or through the HIPA website ; all rules must be read and accepted before registration.

How do I know that my photos have been submitted successfully?

After successfully uploading any photo(s), you will receive a confirmation email.

I have not received a confirmation e-mail, why is that?

Please check your spam or Junk mail folders for any emails from HIPA, and make sure to add noreply@hipa.ae to your e-mail safe list.

What are the prizes?

Under each category we will have three winners 1st, 2nd and 3rd

Can I participate with a photo that has previously won a HIPA award/competition?

No, you cannot participate with any photo(s) that has already won in past competitions.

Can I participate with a photograph that has been shared on a social media channel such as Facebook, Instagram, etc.?

Yes, that is possible.

Do I have to submit photos taken with a digital camera?

No, you can participate with pictures taken with digital or analogue cameras, but submission must be done digitally online, so film photographs would have to be scanned by the participant before submission.

Can I delete or replace photos that have already been uploaded?

Yes, you can deletion and/or replacement the photographs.

I do if I am unable to upload my photo(s)?

You should double-check that your photo(s) meet all requirements for submission. The photograph size must be greater than 2 MB and the format needs to be in ‘.jpg’ or ‘.jpeg’ only.

Can I use Photoshop or any other photo-editing software to edit my photo(s)? And what are the limits?

Yes, but it should not affect the authentication of the photo.

Are panoramic photograph(s) accepted?

Yes, they are.

Can I submit photograph(s) that have been taken before 2014?

No, Not allowed

Can I submit black and white photograph(s)?

Yes, that is possible.

Can I upload the same photograph in more than one category?

No, that is not allowed.
