HIPA to host ‘Soorah Challenge’ photo competition for children at Meet d3

Dated: 08 Dec 2016

The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) is set to host a photography competition for children up to the age of 12 at Dubai Design District’s free-to-all public event, Meet d3. HIPA will host the ‘Soorah Challenge’ for young photographers to participate in with eight different themes on the 9th and 10th of December 2016. Submissions will be accepted only through Instagram and winners will receive Polaroid Cube cameras as prizes.

Commenting on the launch of the competition, the Secretary General of HIPA, His Excellency Ali bin Thalith remarked, “We are delighted to introduce to Meet d3 the exciting ‘Soorah Challenge’ photo competition for children. We feel that it is our obligation to nurture people in the community who are interested in photography by unleashing their imagination. For this event, it is a fantastic opportunity for us to focus on child photographers and thereby witness through their lenses the Meet d3 event. We also felt it was important to make this competition very accessible and easy for them to participate in, which is through Instagram. By incorporating the Meet d3 themes into hashtags per category, we expect some very creative and high quality submissions from our young photographers.”

Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Design District commented, “We’re delighted that HIPA will be hosting the Soorah Challenge here at Meet d3. Having hosted Dubai Photo Exhibition earlier this year, we’re thrilled at our ongoing partnership with HIPA and feel that photo competition for children will certainly add an exciting dimension to our weekend programme for families. We look forward to seeing some outstanding and creative results.”
